How long do I have to bring a claim for construction defects in California?
Generally speaking, you must bring a claim for construction defects within 10 years of the home/structure being completed. The 10 years is calculated from one of the following events, whichever is earliest.
1. The date of the close of escrow;
2. The date of use or occupation of the improvement;
3. The date of the final inspection of the home; or
4. The date of the notice of completion.
